Letter from the Secretary at Brook’s, 13 February 1958, says because John Christie has paid a subscription to the club for 50 years he no longer needs to pay.
In the letter addressed to Togo, 08 May 1962, John Christie writes, “All my affairs are proving most wonderfully successful. The best year of the Building Works being a net profit of over £76,000! I know this is nothing compared with one of the largest breweries, but my purpose was to do my job as a land-owner and to take my share in building the new world, and all these efforts have had the most astonishing results…”
