In a letter from John Christie to his Mother, 20 September 1935, discussing the Dome he says, “Beecham chooses to make such scenes in order to advertise his name. He doesn’t expect to get a reputation of being a good man. He only wants an artistic reputation, and The Times criticised these two concerts severely. He is amusing but a bad man.”
Letter from John Christie to his Mother, 05 June 1934, “to report progress” and lay out the plans for the 1935 programme, “Fritz Busch will be with us the whole time if he can arrange his contract accordingly in Buenos Ayres [sic]”
