It is still hard to believe…He did such an enormous amount for us here, particularly in the marvellous way in which he (who bought Ebert) succeeded in establishing Glyndebourne in those early years. I think, as we have always said, it took all the legs of a centipede to really carry the thing through, but had Busch not been the man he was it could so easily have failed.”
