Regarding not giving sufficient artistic credit to Ebert in a recent letter to the designer Rolf Gerard -
Carl Ebert writes, “I am, in the whole letter, mentioned merely as the receiver of a copy! - which puts me in the position of a ‘take it or leave it’ - employee. Can you imagine how Busch - or any conductor - would have reacted to giving similar instructions to a coach or the orchestra leader without his consent??"
He continues, “...what we should not forget is to keep our good relationship safe and solid by the strict observation of our respective competences and responsibilities. I believe I can do this with the utmost care and sincerity - and so far I could say the same of you.”
