Spedan Lewis writes, “It was decided that up to £12,500 the Partnership should guarantee against loss the first revival of the Glyndebourne Festival and it was decided that, so far as might be lawfully possible, this should be done so that the whole amount of the guarantee should be available to Glyndebourne, that is to say, so that it should come out of Partnership’s untaxed profits and should not be reduced to taxation.”
He continues, “If Glyndebourne can keep going through 1951, I think there is a real chance that we may be able to help again in 1952, not merely taking tickets but on our present lines.”
