Eric Crozier writes, “I will not try to cover the whole web of misunderstandings between Glyndebourne and ourselves…It was probably inevitable that, from the Glyndebourne side, it should be assumed that I was the root of the trouble between them and us. But it was an over-simplification of a complex problem to imagine that I was either jealous or envious of you as a producer in relation to our group. I am neither of these. I have enough sense of values to know that I can not even begin to compete with you as a producer, man-of-theatre, or anything else - nor have I any desire to do so. But I should - as we suggested once before in conversation together - be very happy to have the opportunity of learning from you by studying your methods of work.”
