John Christie writes, “You say that “we regret that Rudolf Bing’s admirable devotion to the interests of Glyndebourne should make him so little confident in our own integrity and purpose”. Your statement is pure invention. You add “We can not work well with him, for he sums up the mistrust of Glyndebourne for any enterprise that it does not itself mould or control”. This too is pure invention. I do not accept any portion of this paragraph, and I don’t accept a suggestion that you think it is true in principle or in detail.” - Content event
